About MESTAI Startup Program 2026?
Africa’s leading tech-training organization, MEST Africa, is launching the MEST AI Startup Program 2026, a fully funded accelerator aimed at empowering AI-driven software startups across West Africa. Through a rigorous 12-month journey, seven months of hands-on training, followed by a four-month incubation, this program equips founders with the skills, mentorship, and funding readiness necessary to launch successful ventures.
Key Dates & Timeline
- Applications open: July 2, 2025
- Deadline: August 22, 2025 (rolls close at 11:59 PM GMT)
- Decision Notification: By September 10, 2025, shortlisted candidates will be invited to group challenges and interviews in Ghana, Nigeria, or Senegal.
- Training Starts: January 2026 (pre-learning Nov–Dec 2025, on-site from Jan–July 2026)
- Incubation: September–December 2026
- Pre-seed investment & portfolio entry: January 2027
Who Should Apply?
Ideal candidates are West African nationals aged 21–30 with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, proven software development experience, and a passion for AI and entrepreneurship. You must be available full-time for the entire program, including relocation to Accra, Ghana. Other key traits: an entrepreneurial mindset, adaptability, teamwork, and a drive to scale globally relevant AI solutions.
What You’ll Learn & Build
Phase 1: 7-Month Immersive Training (January–July 2026)
- Collaborate in a pan-African cohort to explore problems, validate ideas, and build AI MVPs rapidly.
- Learn from AI and business specialists from OpenAI, Google, Perplexity, Meltwater, and more.
- Master AI software development, product-market fit, lean startup tactics, go-to-market strategies, and entrepreneurial leadership.
Phase 2: 4‑Month Incubation (September–December 2026)
- Receive targeted mentorship and coaching on team growth, user acquisition, and business scaling.
- Prepare for a pitch to secure up to $100,000 in pre-seed funding and join the MEST portfolio.
